“Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.”
Psalms 37:5 NLT
One of the privileges we have as children of God is that we have access to our Father. The word of God has shown us how men and women who walked the earth before us, always got His attention. Even now we have that same blessing. In John 20:17 Jesus showed us that the same Father He always spoke about is our Father as well. “Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ””John 20:17 NIV. So when we present something or even ourselves to Him, we are presenting as His children. We don’t have to sound or look perfect/ packaged well, anyhow you can bring yourself or anything to Him is good enough. God doesn’t view our lives as a research proposal that follows a certain format. He is our Father, He is always merciful and full of grace towards us. King David said; “The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.”Psalms 145:8 NIV. No matter the situations we go through, that doesn’t change who He is. You know how parents can clean up their kids, leave them for sometime then when they return the child is dirty? As parents, they can’t stay mad at their kids. When they are calm one of them will have to clean those kids AGAIN and no matter how many times they do that in a day, their love for those kids can never change. Now what more our Heavenly Father?, who couldn’t let sin or death come between us and Him.
In Luke 7:36-50, a woman who had been referred to as sinful, heard that Jesus would be having dinner at one of the Pharisees’s house. While they were eating, the woman rushed in and started ministering to the Lord. The bible says that she began to wet Jesus’s feet with her tears. Her tears could have been a result of insults from people, pain, failure, delay or anything. She didn’t consider who was there or what they would say, she just wanted to bring her heart and service to the Lord. She kissed His feet and poured perfume on them, while many watched and wondered if Jesus knew who the woman was. But see she was in the presence of the one who reigns forever, the one who takes away our burdens, sickness or any other situation. So what people thought or said was not of importance at that moment. Jesus gave her the greatest blessing , forgiveness of sin. She will no longer be associated with that life anymore. That’s what happens when we bring ourselves to the Lord, He offers something great in return (““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28 NIV). Those tears that look imprinted on your face, will turn into an everlasting joy. One that is not dependent on situations or seasons. Just bring them to the Lord, you don’t even have to explain anything. King David said; “… you know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.” Psalm139:4.
Learn to run to Him and allow our Father to fix you, there’s no situation that is too hard for Him. When Jesus was feeling distressed the bible says that He went to pray with the disciples at Gathsemane. He asked them to watch and pray with Him, but He went abit further from them to pray alone. ““Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.””Luke 22:42 NIV. At that moment an angel appeared to Him and strengthened Him. The bible says that He prayed even harder, that His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. An earnest prayer was needed for the next moment of His life, He had to be on His knees. This brought power to withstand anything. When we learn to bring ourselves to the Lord, He transforms us. He realigns us to the perfect will and plan of God. Those scars and heartaches that you come with, will be healed. So when you come to the Lord with anything, expect a response.
I’m reminded of Hannah, who the bible shows us how much she prayed for a child . She took her desire to care for a child to God, the bible says that the man who heard her praying even thought she’s drunk. 1Samuel1:9-28. “Hannah said, “Oh no, sir—please! I’m a woman brokenhearted. I haven’t been drinking. Not a drop of wine or beer. The only thing I’ve been pouring out is my heart, pouring it out to God. Don’t for a minute think I’m a bad woman. It’s because I’m so desperately unhappy and in such pain that I’ve stayed here so long.””
1 Samuel 1:15-16 MSG. Hannah had brought her heart’s desires and sorrows to God, it didn’t matter who was there watching. She needed God to intervene, the bible says that the same man who thought she was drunk, later gave her a word; “Eli answered her, “Go in peace. And may the God of Israel give you what you have asked of him.””1 Samuel 1:17 MSG. God did grand her what she had asked for. Hannah felt discouraged but nonetheless brought herself to the Lord and Heaven attended to her. There’s no state we have to be in to present our burdens to Him. God wants those situations as you see them, so that when change comes you can notice it.
Bring it to the Lord! No matter how it looks, He will take care of it. Maybe you’ve tried other methods, now it’s time to give it to king Jesus. when the disciples were panicking, not knowing how they are going to feed the multitudes that had followed Jesus, a young boy came forward with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. ““Bring them here to me,” he said.”Matthew 14:18 NIV. They first had to bring what they had to Jesus before a miracle could take place. Jesus then gave thanks to God and told them to feed the people. The food multiplied in front of their eyes! So I encourage you to bring what you have or what you are feeling to our Lord. Let Him transform that situation, let Him heal you completely.
I pray that the Holy Spirit reminds you about the Father you have in Heaven. I pray that your prayers be answered, as you bring yourself to Him in prayer, worship or praise. Again may the eyes of your understanding be enlightened and hope restored as you bring all things to Him. Amen.
