Intimacy with the Holy Spirit

Now, may the grace and joyous favor of the Lord Jesus Christ, the unambiguous love of God, and the precious communion that we share in the Holy Spirit be yours continually. Amen!”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭14‬ ‭TPT‬‬

we know that God gave us His Spirit when Jesus went to Heaven. He sent the Holy Spirit to live in us and make us conscious of the life God has given us. The walk with the Holy Spirit begins when we say yes to Him, when we are fully baptised in the Holy Spirit. Luke 3:16; “John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
‭‭
Unlike baptism with water this one doesn’t require an actual river or pool, it’s a prayer. It’s a choice we make to live in the Spirit. We know that He is readily made available to us because in John 16:7 Jesus said; “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you].” Our relationship with the Holy Spirit could have existed with Him being in Heaven, but there’s a type of fellowship that Jesus wanted us to have with Him; an intimate one. I would like to believe that this type of a relationship is that one where He can not miss anything about us. He knows every detail about us, the small and big stuff. He knows it all, but just like any other relationship He also requires us to get to know Him and spend time with Him. Our fellowship with the Holy Spirit is a 2 way relationship, but He gives us the ability to be able to communicate with Him effectively (He always handles the how part). I remember a while back when I’ll be in prayer and the Holy Spirit will encourage me to greet Him, acknowledge His power and presence always at work in me and around me. I got to experience the person of the Holy Spirit, He taught me how to relate with Him and have a continual fellowship with Him. The journey of life is unknown to us, but we have the one who knows it all and We need to be able to hear Him when He speaks. In a profound intimate relationship, the bond is so strong that one can hear the other’s voice and instantly recognise it, without even knowing they were there.

The Holy Spirit is always doing something and He wants us to know and be conscious of it. Sometimes He wants to position us and have us in the right posture to witness His beautiful work. When God was about to call Moses, the bible says that an angel appeared to him in flames of fire within a bush. But to Moses’s surprise it didn’t burn up. So he wanted to go and see what that was. This specific event had caught his attention, when he was approaching, God called to him, “Moses,Moses!” “Here I am”; Moses said. ““Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.””Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬. When we become citizens of the kingdom the Holy Spirit transforms us into beings that are acceptable in Heaven. He changes us and makes us people that are led by the Spirit. In Exodus, God required Moses to remove his sandals, He said that where he was standing is a holy ground. Moses couldn’t just come in with sandals that have walked anywhere. This can be something’s that the Spirit knows will hinder our intimacy with Him. He’s not saying that we should come as perfect and whole, that is His work. He just needs us to be willing to remove some of these things so that He can work in our hearts, lives and souls. What I love about our fellowship with Him is that He leads us, He tells us what is it that we should remove. We don’t have to figure it out by ourselves, He always lets us know. Just like what God did with Moses. A fellowship with the Holy Spirit is sacred, there’s order in it. Notice how people who have intimacy with the Holy Spirit operate. They see things in the Spirit first. “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.””John‬ ‭4‬:‭24‬ ‭NIV‬‬. Operating in the Spirit realm is a Heavenly way of living, Our precious Father is Himself Spirit. So intimacy with the Holy Spirit makes us to become like our Father. In 1Kings17 prophet Elijah saw how people of Israel were living, they had deserted God. So the man came in and commanded that there won’t be rain until he says so. God’s authority was at work in him, he could call into being things that were not there. Prophet Elijah had been walking with God, so he knew what God could do. His intimacy with God brought a Heavenly insight, he understood what moves God and what doesn’t. It’s in intimacy that we get to know how the Spirit operates.

Everything that Jesus said about the Holy Spirit is true and He wants to be that to you. He wants to build an intimate relationship with you, so that you can commune with Him at all times. He wants to be that friend you can talk to anytime, He also wants to be that teacher you run to for understanding. He wants to be your all, allow Him to express Himself through you. Let Him heal you and transform your life in to a life designed by God.

Intimacy with the Holy Spirit will result in us being aligned with God’s plan for our lives. People who are conscious of Him are not easily moved by temporal circumstances. Their gaze is on the Master and His great plan. How can we be intimate with the Holy Spirit? 1. Through prayer, “But you, my delightfully loved friends, constantly and progressively build yourselves up on the foundation of your most holy faith by praying every moment in the Spirit.” Jude ‭1‬:‭20‬ ‭TPT‬‬. Prayer will sustain our communication with the Holy Spirit

2. Studying the word of God, the Holy Spirit is the divine source of the words in the scriptures. He’s the author of the word. studying and meditating on the word is communication with the Holy Spirit. He provides revelations and causes us to see thing like our Father

3. Through worship, again even in this moment He ministers to us. In the lifting of our hands and kneeling down, we become one with Him. He’s able to see our hearts and carefully carry them.

I encourage you to prioritise intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Make time for Him, there’s so much He wants to tell you, spend time with Him. Let Him lead you to places He wants to talk to you and through you. There’s a heavenly agenda He wants to share with you, there are people He wants to touch through your life. Have fellowship with Him.

Let’s pray;

Precious Holy Spirit, thank you for your love and beautiful presence in us and around us. Thank you for each and every person who is reading this. I pray that this message ignites the desire to fellowship with you intimately and I pray that you reveal yourself to them. May this be a journey of realignment and Heavenly positioning. may your children Lord be inspired to be in your presence. As they fellowship with you I pray that your work in them becomes evident, may people of this world know you through them; in the name of Jesus we have prayed and I am confident that you will do that which you have said. Amen!
