Tarry in prayer

Acts12: So Peter was kept in prison, but fervent and persistent prayer for him was being made to God by the church.

The church in the scripture reference heard about the arrest of their leader and decided to meet and make prayers for Peter. The church could have marched to where they had kept Peter and demanded to know the reason of his arrest but they knew the power of prayer, a fervent one for that matter. This needed to be taken to the one Peter had been preaching about, the Man Peter spoke so openly about being His witness. Jesus had done and said so much in the presence of the disciples that the gospel they preached was tangible. The church came together and chose to pray, I’m thinking they probably knew about Matthew18:19 which says ; “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven”. This brothers and sisters came together and agreed on the release of Peter. They knew that tarrying in prayer would move our Father, it will get His attention and an unusual way would be made for Peter.

Tarrying in prayer is when people make up their minds to hear and see God move irrespective of the time to be spent, all they do is stay in the Lord’s presence. This changes one’s prayer life because you will be focused and conscious of what the Spirit is saying. Tarrying in prayer means you are now operating in heavenly realms where all things are possible. One other thing I got to learn from tarrying in prayer is the unusual methods God will give you in order to get to the other side. Our lives are known to God, He is our creator so tarrying in prayer gets you to that position God has initially planned for you.

While the church was in prayer Peter’s heavenly release begun, an angel told him to quickly get up and as Peter did that the bible says chains fell off Peter’s wrists. The angel continued to tell Peter to follow him, all of this seemed like a vision to Peter. They both passed guards and the bible also says that the iron gate leading to the city opened by itself and they went through it. Tears could not have brought such a miracle but tarrying in prayer did. Only God can close the eyes of the guards so that His servant can pass. Imagine while in prayer and that which you believed God for so much suddenly presents itself to you, that’s what tarrying in prayer does. You leave your prayer room sure of what God can do and has done. Another man who tarried in prayer is Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 14:18 he spoke about how he speaks in tongues more. Meaning the man could be anywhere and he would just pray, he didn’t have to wait for a song to be played or sung. He would just pray. This is the very same man whom the mystery that was hidden to many generations was now revealed to. His staying in God’s presence made it possible for God’s message to be conveyed to him. He always entered heavenly realms.

God is always looking for people He can use to change the world and its through tarrying in prayer that people can be chosen and sent to deliver God’s message. Another woman in the bible named Esther who was a queen knew the importance of tarrying in prayer. When the king’s advisor plotted to destroy all the Jewish people, Esther’s cousin Mordecai overheard this and asked Esther to step in to save her people. There were procedures to how one could see the king even for his wives but there was a matter at hand, Esther then decided to rather let tarrying in prayer create a way. She asked that all Jewish people go into a moment of prayer and fast for her and she too did so. She gained confidence and became bold to do that which was set before her but in order for her to proceed she needed heaven to back her up and it was only through tarrying in prayer that she could get there. Her beauty or status could not make the king forget about his restrictions but prayer could make that possible. When the time to see the king arrived she presented herself and the bible says the king was pleased with her ( Esther 5:2). There was a transformation that took place when she was tarrying in prayer, grace and favor stepped in and this resulted in the king being pleased with her even wanting to give her anything she requested.

Anyone will be transformed when tarrying in prayer, we are changed to being like our Father. We see things like Him, even the way we operate in any space will be like Him. Fear or any destruction will be far away from us because heaven would have stepped in. Whatever we decree in this type of prayer will be, so I encourage you to tarry in prayer. If things are looking somehow tarry in prayer. Be invested in prayer so much that nothing moves you. There’s God’s glory waiting for you and it’s only through this that you will get to experience it. Heavenly equipping is done in such moments, kingdom positions are given here. So you need clarity about a matter? Tarry in prayer, let heaven cloud your vision and thoughts so that you see God’s purpose in everything. Refuse to let anxiety weigh you down, you have been anointed for this life.

So if you want to experience the super natural I urge you to stay in prayer. Be serious about this until it becomes your everyday thing. Do not find yourself not tarrying in prayer at any point in your life, our heavenly Father has so much He wants to deposit in to your spirit and path therefore come into a life of prayer. If you desire an intimate relationship with God spend time in prayer.

My prayer for you today is that you are encouraged to spend time in the presence of God, I pray that you experience heaven as you tarry in prayer and be strengthened to wait on the Lord because His arrival comes with glory. May you be immersed in the Lord’s presence so much that whenever you talk or walk people experience first sight of heaven.

God bless you.
