Discover the truth

Put on truth as a belt to strengthen you to stand in triumph. Put on holiness as the protective armor that covers your heart.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Truth is one of Heaven’s attributes, it is the foundation of our walk with Christ. Jesus referred to Himself as truth, in John 14:6 He said, “Jesus explained, “I am the Way, I am the Truth, and I am the Life. No one comes next to the Father except through union with me. To know me is to know my Father too.”‭‬‬ To Know Jesus is to discover truth, one that will lead you to know the real you. There was never a time when Jesus didn’t identify Himself with the Father. Imagine Him looking at Himself in the mirror and all He could see was God. His reality was that He was and is one with God. This truth will change the way one does things, it model’s our way of living.

What is it about truth that God acknowledges so much? I’ve come to understand that Heaven’s way of living is centred around truth. Our Father Himself is truth, He wants us to live that way as well. When one is truth conscious they can not believe any lie. They can also differentiate between what is truth and what’s not. It takes one to decide what is truth on their path, as Christian’s we have been given the word of God to draw truth from. Anything that is not inconsistent with the word is not truth. In John 17:17, while Jesus was praying for the disciples He also said “Sanctify them in the truth [set them apart for Your purposes, make them holy]; Your word is truth.” God’s word is the only truth that we ought to know and live, I know we are in the world and can be overwhelmed by many things but we have the word of God to help us on how we should respond to any situation. Living the word of God sets us apart, it purifies us and renews our way of living and thinking. This is the only manual God left for us, a gift He wants us to study and apply in our everyday living.

How do you define your reality? Is it defined by the season you are in now or circumstances around you? Is your reality defined by what you are feeling or in need of? I love how apostle Paul defined his reality to us in Philippians 4:11-13; “I’m not telling you this because I’m in need, for I have learned to be satisfied in any circumstance. I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance. For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.” The man had been through many seasons, but in all that he was content. He was Satisfied with everything, I believe he had come to understand that God is the source of everything. As His children what He has given us is enough for any moment. The knowledge and strength we have is not in us, but in Christ. The one who defied law’s of this world and He still does. He keeps showing us that our reality is locked up in Him, in His word. Whether fed or not, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. We might look or sound like we can’t but through Christ we can. This is our truth, choose to believe it and live it. We find our identity in Christ not in circumstances, because what is seen is temporal. Our identity is in Him who lives forever.

When the Israelites were attacked by the Syrian army, Prophet Elisha would warn the king of where not to go and when the Syrian king found out he wanted to kill him. So he sent out his army to look for him, the bible says that when Elisha and his servant got up one morning, the servant saw the Syrian troops surrounding their area. He ran to Elisha and with fear asked what are they going to do. With confidence Elisha said; “ don’t be afraid”. He continued to say ; “ for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Elisha was aware that He wasn’t alone, God had not left him to face the struggles of this world alone. No matter what happened he was surrounded , even thou the servant didn’t see it or understand. Elisha then asked God to open the real eyes of the servant, and when his sight was regained he saw a wonder. “The whole mountainside full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha!”2 Kings‬ ‭6‬:‭17‬ ‭MSG‬‬. The servant got to see why Elisha had so much confidence in God. The Syrian army had been led by Heaven to be captured by God, they probably thought they trapped Elisha but they actually walked into God’s plan. Elisha was now the one in charge of the situation. Discovering truth gives us insight about the God we trust in, the more you search the scriptures and find out about Him the more your confidence in Him becomes great. Whatever comes your way you are able to stand. You know that God will not let any trouble come near you, last week we wrote about the all knowing God. Imagine Him listening to the Syrian king, telling his army to go look for Elisha. As if God is going to allow them harm His servant, Proverbs 15:3 says; “ God doesn’t miss a thing- He’s alert to good and evil alike”. While the army got ready, God prepared a troop of angels to guard over His servant. God will never fail us!!!

Refuse to believe anything else but what God has said, that’s our truth. He gave it to us so that circumstances don’t swallow us, He made sure that with His truth we are able to walk out of any fire unharmed. Didn’t the same thing happen to Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in Daniel 3? When many thought they would burn and die in the fire, a fourth man showed up and He made sure that their praise continues even in the fire. See Truth brings liberty, when you know and believe in the truth of Jesus Christ you become free from any limitations and bondage no matter the season. His truth frees you, nothing has power to claim you . When distractions want to come, Jesus shows up and removes them so that you are not distracted in any way. Those around you will keep wondering why you are always full of joy and peace, it’s because we know there’s a God in us, besides us and before us. He has filled our mouths with prophesy so that we speak truth to any circumstance. When Lazarus fell sick and died, Jesus said; “…, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.””John‬ ‭11‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬. Even in a moment many would consider final, Jesus still spoke what He has heard His Father say. Upon His arrival, Lazarus sisters were heartbroken and thought if only our Master got here earlier. “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”” John‬ ‭11‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NIV‬‬. The one who carries life had entered their home and they were about to experience more of what He does. He called Lazarus and the man walked out of his tomb. Maybe your situation has gotten worse, you tried finding your way out but everyone keeps telling you that there’s no way out. I’m bringing you the greatest truth, and that truth is Jesus. He can change any situation, He will heal that sickness, bring the breakthrough you’ve been believing for. All you have to do is to Stay in this truth, declare it in your family, career, studies, marriage, business, even your future. Let your reality be modelled by the word of God.

Let’s pray;
