His word is enough

John 11 : 11 After he had said this, he went on to tell them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.”

In the scripture reference above Jesus received news that Lazarus who was described as His close friend was sick and in verse When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”  Martha and Mary who were Lazarus sisters sent this message to Jesus, I would like to believe that the 2 sisters knew that the Lord will do something about this. They turned to the Master knowing that nothing in this world is impossible for Him.

I can imagine the sisters sending the message and hoping to see Jesus enter to pray for their brother but He was already there. They might not have seen Him physically but His mighty word was sent. Not just to comfort them but to also preserve Lazarus life. Whatever happened between the time Jesus declared life over Lazarus and when He physically came to their house was aware of what the Lord had said. The circumstance was aware of the word spoken, it had taken a form. The word form. Isaiah 55 :11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth  It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Jesus had sent His word, there is a weight that the word of the Lord carries. Whatever the Lord says is final and it is enough.

Every word Jesus speaks carries power, He did not just make a statement but made a declaration. His father, our Father did the same in Genesis when He created the heavens and earth through His word. God made what we see today through speaking it out, that’s how powerful His word is. The disciples did not understand what Jesus was saying when He responded to the news about Lazarus, they were used to seeing the Master lay His hands on the sick and they got healed but now instead of them going to Lazarus, Jesus is speaking. Then in Verse 14 He said , “Lazarus is dead, 15 and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” He now had to make them aware of what had happened. Jesus arrived and Martha came to meet Him, the bible says she fell to His feet and cried. Trying to explain to the Master what had happened as if He was not aware, she then said I know had you been here my brother would not have died. She didn’t know that Jesus word alone was enough to cause a change, His word was alive and present with them ( Heb.4:12). Mary came and said the same thing, but there was a word spoken over Lazarus life that could not return without doing that which the Lord had sent it to do. Even thou Lazarus had stopped breathing the word of the Lord was mighty around his body, he had to respond. Jesus said to the sisters again that Lazarus will rise. They took Jesus to where they had laid him. I can imagine the Master arriving there, Feeling the vibrations of His word in that tomb. “Remove the stone”, He said. He prayed to His Father then called Lazarus to come out and indeed he came out.

There is something the Lord is saying over your life or the lives of those around you, call on the Master. He has a mighty word for you, do not let that pain, excitement or confusion steal the joy of knowing what the Lord is saying concerning you at this moment. Your next move or phase depends on what He is saying. Refuse to just live without knowing what He says. The Centurion man in Matthew 8:5-13 understood the power of the spoken word. He said Jesus doesn’t have to come to his house, He can just speak a word and he knows that his servant will be healed. When Jesus speaks change is guaranteed. Imagine going for a miracle service, People expecting you to come back holding your miracle but rather you say I received a word from the Lord. A word relevant for any time, whatever happens you keep on remembering what the Lord said and you are encouraged.

I pray that you receive the Lord’s word over anything you could be desiring at this moment, I pray that you allow His mighty word to penetrate your soul and spirit so that it’s only what He says that you continually think about. I pray that as He speaks, you become aware that His word is enough. Enough for the journey ahead, for the current moment and for those around you. May His word carry you and cause you to walk out of any situations alive and better.

God bless you.
