“And I continually long to know the wonders of Jesus and to experience the overflowing power of his resurrection working in me. I will be one with him in his sufferings and become like him in his death.”
Philippians 3:10 TPT
In this week’s blog I’ll be sharing an encounter I had with the Holy Spirit about a week ago. The Spirit reminded me of the scripture where 2 of the disciples were on a journey to Emmaus. The bible shows us how Jesus joined them on this journey and asked what they had been discussing. They didn’t recognise Him, the bible says; “But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him.”Luke 24:16 NKJV. Now I kept asking what could have made people who spent time with Jesus before the resurrection not recognise Him after He rose. I understand that the Master rose in different splendor and beauty but there had to be something that they could have recognised. Imagine the disciples worried and sad that Jesus didn’t arise like He said He would, they probably thought that this was one thing He couldn’t do, even thou He had told them numerously about the prophecies that were spoken before He even came on earth. In Luke 24:13, Jesus walked with these 2 gentlemen and they got to tell Him about the events that had been taking place. Which I think also looked like they had given up on what Jesus had been telling them, to them it looked like everything Jesus had taught them couldn’t apply to this specific moment. “…He was a mighty prophet of God who performed miracles and wonders. His words were powerful and he had great favor with God and the people.”Luke 24:19 TPT. This was how they described Jesus, they focused on what He did and not who God has said He is. Peter once caught the revelation of who Jesus is. Through the Holy Spirit He said; “… “You are the Anointed One, the Son of the living God!””Matthew 16:16 TPT. Our Knowledge of who Jesus is will make us understand the power He is (yes, He carries power but He is power as well). As they continued their walk with Jesus, He got to preach to them again showing them the truths hidden in the word. As He was continuing with His journey these disciples asked Him stay with them for the evening. “When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them.”
Luke 24:30 NIV. “All at once their eyes were opened and they realized he was Jesus! Then suddenly, in a flash, Jesus vanished from before their eyes!”Luke 24:31 TPT. The preaching couldn’t get them to see who was walking with them, but this one act opened their eyes. The bible says that they suddenly realised who Jesus was, in the next verse they reflect on the journey by asking each other questions ; “And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?””Luke 24:32 NKJV. While Jesus spoke to them on the road their hearts burned but they might have been blinded by the news that Jesus is never coming back. They forgot everything He had assured them, even when truth was staring them in the face they didn’t know. The Holy Spirit showed me how circumstances can constraint us from experiencing Jesus. Our spiritual abundance is tied to our intimacy with Christ: to know Him little is to experience little of His peace. Know Jesus so much that anything that happens finds you with this powerful truth.
Imagine if all the disciples remembered everything Jesus told them about His life, when many mourned Him and others were concerned if really He would wake up, I’m thinking they would have had peace in them and looked expectantly at the hour He would rise, because He was going to rise. Get to Know the Master, the truth you acquire about Him will elevate you in every season of your life. Didn’t He boldly say; “…, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”John 14:6 NIV. When you get to Know Him you know truth, you become aligned in the right way and you obtain divine life. No matter how things look or how you feel, you have an immeasurable power within you causing everlasting changes.
To know Jesus is to know you, we can fully know who we are when we get to know Jesus. Maybe circumstances are staring you in the face now and forcing you to believe a lie, I’m writing this to let you know that the only truth you need to believe is Jesus. There’s no report that is more real than His word, nothing in this world is more powerful enough to alter His word. His word is final and powerful, stand on it. Declare it at every point in your life.
How can you get to know Him? Through His word, John said that Jesus is the word of God made flesh,John 1:1>. Take in the word as much as you can so that whatever comes you respond by it. When you do or say anything by the word, you respond as our Master. Let the word of God be the first thing you say and think on each day, clothe your home, family, career, relationships, ministry and everything else with the word of God. Our Father in Genesis spoke a word into a creation that was formless and with void, He spoke and nothing became into something.
And as you serve Jesus remember to let Him minister to you, let Him reveal Himself to you so much that in whatever glory He comes to meet you, you are able to recognise Him. The 2 disciples have been serving Jesus so much that they forgot how His one touch feels like. Their hearts burned as He spoke but they had other things to worry about, refuse to let anything constrain you from experiencing the greatest gift from our Father. Love Jesus with all your heart, serve Him wholeheartedly (in private and in public). Be excited to spend time with Him, know Him because when you know Jesus you know God. I’m certain we all want to know God, so here’s the truth; Knowing Jesus is knowing our Heavenly Father. “If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.””John 14:7 NIV.
Allow the Holy Spirit to teach you about Jesus, let Him remind you of everything Jesus said concerning you. He is the only standby Jesus left for us, Jesus said that everything the Holy Spirit will say is from our Father. So trust what He says. “But when the truth-giving Spirit comes, he will unveil the reality of every truth within you. He won’t speak on his own, but only what he hears from the Father, and he will reveal prophetically to you what is to come.”John 16:13 TPT.
In 2026 let’s prioritise knowing our Lord and saviour. See how much is stored in knowing Him? Give yourself to this truth, not only do we know ourselves but we also know our Heavenly Father. God wants us know Him, He’s going to keep calling us for more and bigger things so we need to know it’s Him calling. Know Jesus so that you know how to respond to the greatest call. You don’t want to miss His voice, know it. Let Him be the light that shines in you through every season that comes. He brings clarity, calm, truth, peace, love, healing and much more. So I urge you my brothers and sisters, KNOW JESUS!
I pray that anything that will want to constrain you from knowing Him be removed in Jesus name, I pray that a desire to know Him more be ignited in your hearts. As you search the scriptures, may your eyes be opened to the truth that Jesus freely made available to you. May you be filled with peace that surpasses all knowledge. I pray for every troubled heart; may Jesus clothe you with peace, I pray that the storm you are facing be calm at this very moment. May hope arise as you look forward into 2026. I declare divine healing for everyone who needs it, may the Holy Spirit put you back together and position you for what our Father wants to do with you. As you get to know more about our Master, I pray that Heaven realigns you with God’s plan for this season. In Jesus name; AMEN!!
Jesus wants to reveal Himself to us, let’s get to know Him!!
