Luke7:36 When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37 A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
In the scripture reference Jesus was invited to come and have dinner with one of the Pharisees. A woman who the bible described as one who lived a sinful life learned that the Master was eating at the Pharisee’s house and she came with an alabaster jar of perfume. In spite of how the world or anyone viewed her, this could not stop her from presenting herself to the Master. There was something different about the gospel Jesus preached. Even when many didn’t understand who He was, they still believed in what He was saying. Hence they followed Him and wanted to hear more of what He was preaching. In John 6:63 Jesus said the words He spoke are full of spirit and life. Everything He said gave life, divine life.
This woman knew that one encounter with Jesus would result to her being a new person, old things gone (2 Corinthians 5:17). She could not let that opportunity pass without her being with our Lord, I can imagine her wondering what she can bring to the Master. She saw Jesus and tears rolled down, looking at grace. She then wiped Jesus feet with her hair, what a beautiful moment of worship. She forgot about who was there and what they would be thinking and focused on who stood before her. The King of kings, the Lord of lords, Jesus who had been laying hands on many and they got healed, the man who is full of compassion. She put everything before Him and worshipped Him. Jesus being our Lord saw her heart, He saw beyond the tears and gave her a word that changed her whole life. He gave her freedom from what people identified her with. He gave her a new identity, a new story. John 7:48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” The woman was never to be seen as the sinful one anymore, she was now forgiven. All she did was present herself to the Master, never spoke when she got there. Jesus who is full of mercy ministered to her. Some wondered who He is that He even forgives sins but Jesus continued to bless the woman. Never despise the moments you spent with our Lord, He always has a word for you. He called the act that the woman did love, for her to come running and falling to Jesus feet like that was nothing short of love. Don’t ever feel unworthy of being with Him, He is forever waiting for you. No matter what goes on in your life do not let it keep you from presenting yourself to our Father. When the Prodigal son returned home, the father saw him from a distant. He ran to his son and embraced him (Luke15:-11-32). What more our heavenly Father. Who saw us worthy of Himself, sent His own Son so that we reconcile with Him.
He’s waiting for you, come as you are. Let Him embrace you with His rich love. There is nothing in this world that is better than being with our Father. He can wipe any tear away, He can rewrite any story. Let Him breath His divine life in to your situation. Refuse to let anything stop you from being in the beautiful presence of our Lord.
I pray that you look beyond the people that accuse you and call you names, I pray that you look beyond the circumstances that try to define you and behold our Father. King David said ” his help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth”( Psalm 121:2). As you come to the Lord I pray that you get a revelation of who Jesus is, may He reveal Himself to you in ways you never knew.
May this inspire you to present yourself to the Master.
God bless you
